Recycle

For my half yearly exam in 10th grade, I chose the title recycle and I thought a phoenix would symbolize recycling extremely well. I did the phoenix in pastels and i made it rise up from trashed candy wrappers( prep work: left picture). In my final picture I did the same but I added stencils of Asian design in the background of the phoenix to make it more vibrant and also use some of my Asian heritage in the art to personalize it. Then I added other pretty trash to show my recycling( final piece: right picture)
SKULLS^^
I have always had a thing for skulls. Therefore I did a lot of my artwork with skulls in them. I even got the highest grade out of the class in my final exam in 9th grade by doing an observational sketch of two skulls in 2 hours( I had to set up the skulls as well)[I will put up pictures of that sketch later when i scan it].This sketch was an experimental sketch in the first term of 10th grade, the title was ' The Old and the New', the skull representing the old and the flowers representing the new. I did this in charcoal and color pencils.

Two pieces of jewelry IGCSE observational art exam.
For my IGCSE observational piece I chose the title "Two pieces of jewelry". First I started sketching different types of jewelry; I wanted to sketch Asian bridal jewelry or uncommon jewelry. So I started with anklets(1st picture). Then I tried doing other jewelries in different media. I finally chose my friend as my model and I made a different sketch of her(2nd picture ). Afterwards, I painted the sketch in acrylic and I decided that I didn't like the effect on it and I wasn't satisfied therefore I made another sketch in a different composition(3rd picture ). I chose to do that for my final piece but in my final piece I sketched her in chalk and used acrylic in the jewelry to emphasize them more(4th picture).
Busy city
I did this experimental abstract painting of skyscrapers in a busy city. I did bright colors to show the chaos of cities and the darker colors are at the back compared to lighter colors in the front to show some depth. This was done in 8th grade, last term.
Forms and Patterns in Nature
This was done during the first term of 9th grade. We basically had to find forms and patterns with in nature and paint them in an abstract style. I chose to do a rose, so I sketched a rose first(left picture). Then I chose the center the of rose because it had most of the shapes and forms and I decided to paint that in basic colors against a dark water wash(right picture).
